남부뉴저지통합한국학교 한국무용단, 3년 연속 최우수상 쾌거
남부뉴저지통합한국학교(교장 김정숙)의 한국무용단이 미 전역 무대에서 빛나는 업적을 이어가고 있다. 지난 6월 30일 뉴저지 버겐아카데미에서 열린 제 22회 세계한국국악경연대회(미주한국국악진흥회와 뉴욕한국문화원의 공동 주최)에서 3년 연속으로 최우수상을 수상했다.
김케이트 지도교사의 지도 아래 재작년에는 태평무, 작년에는 삼고무에 이어 올해는 10명의 무용단원이 ‘부채춤’ 작품으로 참가했다. 이번 대회에는 무용단 출신 이루리 졸업생과 함께 호흡을 맞춰 일반부로 출전, 로컬 커뮤니티의 한국무용단으로 자리매김하는 계기가 되었다. 3년 연속 최우수상을 수상한 학교 측은 앞으로도 꾸준히 한인 후세들의 한국 전통문화 예술 교육을 지속적으로 발전시킬 뿐 아니라 지역사회에서 한국의 미를 계속 전하는 문화전도사의 역할을 담당하겠다는 포부를 밝혔다. 김케이트 지도교사는 “무더운 날씨에도 불구하고 학생들과 함께 열심히 준비한 결과가 이렇게 좋은 성과로 이어져 매우 기쁘다”고 소감을 전했다.
KSSNJ K-Dance Company Achieves Top Prize for Third Consecutive Year
The KSSNJ K-Dance Company continues to shine on stages across the United States. On June 30, they won the top prize for the third consecutive year at the 22nd World Korean Traditional Music Competition, held at Bergen Academy in New Jersey and co-hosted by the Korean Traditional Music Association of America and the Korean Cultural Center of New York.
Under the guidance of instructor Kate Kim, 10 dancers participated with the piece “Buchaechum” this year, following the performance of “Samgo-mu” last year and “Taepyeongmu” the year before.. This time, they performed in the adult category alongside Ruhri Lee, an alumna of the dance company, marking a significant step in establishing themselves as a local Korean dance troupe. The school, celebrating its third consecutive top prize win, expressed its commitment to continuously developing traditional Korean cultural and artistic education for Korean-American youth and serving as cultural ambassadors in the community to promote the beauty of Korea. Teacher Kate Kim shared her joy, stating, “I am very pleased that our hard work, even in the hot weather, has led to such a great result.”
